5th Grade and Middle School Families,

Mrs. Dye will be leading an extra-curricular writing club for 5th graders and middle schoolers, inspired by none other than St. Francis de Sales, the patron saint of writers and journalists! Known for his gentle and compassionate approach to evangelization, he was sometimes referred to as “The Gentle Saint.” In his honor, our school’s writing club will be known formally as “The Gentle Saint’s Rising Writers” and commonly as “Rising Writers.”

“Rising Writers” will be a weekly after-school club meeting on Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. All 5th-8th grade students who want to enhance and improve their writing skills, have an interest in creative writing, storytelling, or expressing themselves through the written word are welcome! The club will provide a supportive and encouraging environment for students to develop their writing skills, explore different genres, and share their work with peers. Through a series of engaging activities and workshops, students will have the opportunity to hone their writing abilities, learn from one another, and celebrate the legacy of Francis de Sales, the patron saint of writers.

There will be an informational meeting about “Rising Writers” in Mrs. Dye’s room (2nd floor across from Mrs. Koval’s Spanish classroom) on Thursday, February 1, from 3:00-3:30 p.m.

I look forward to meeting those interested in becoming a “Rising Writer” next week.
