Terra Nova testing will be administered next week for students in grades K-8. As we finish our preparations at school for the testing, we want to mention a few important reminders:
1- IF YOU KNOW IN ADVANCE OF ANY DAY(S) THAT YOUR CHILD(REN) WILL BE ABSENT NEXT WEEK IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM THE SCHOOL ASAP SO THAT OTHER TESTING ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE FOR YOUR CHILD(REN).
2- Please ensure that your child(ren) get a good night’s rest. There is a direct correlation, especially in children, between the quality of work after a good night’s rest compared to limited bed hours.
3- Please ensure that your child(ren) eat a healthy breakfast (even something light is better than not eating at all). Snacks and water are permitted during testing week and will be allowed in the classroom.
4- Please ensure that your child(ren) arrive by the first bell at 7:50 AM each day. Testing will begin promptly after morning announcements/pledge of allegiance. Students that arrive after the tardy bell will go to the cafeteria and be supervised by staff instead of being admitted to the classroom. Testing for the day will need to be made up on another day.
5- Students are not permitted to be signed out of school during testing hours (8:00-11:30 AM), unless it is otherwise approved. If a student gets ill or there is another emergency for a child during testing, then we will naturally accommodate that student by having a staff member walk him/her to the office. From that point, we will tend to the problem and notify you.
6- Because we elected to administer testing during the first week of a two-week window this year, any student that misses testing during the week due to illness, tardiness, or other unforeseen events will be able to make-up that test the following week (M-T-W). Therefore we encourage all students who are sick to stay at home and recuperate instead of reporting for testing.
Thank you very much for your attention to this information. We look forward to a successful week of testing.
