snowcompWith the prospect of more school cancellations throughout the remainder of the year, the plan for students getting assignments, and returning them, is as follows:

Primary School (K-2)
All students have received a “snow day” packet that is comprised of 3 days of work. The students should complete the amount of work according to how many days they are at home (1 day cancelled = 1 day of snow day packet work to be completed).  When they return the expectation is for all students to turn in the work completed from the day(s) out of school.  The packet was given to students this past week on Thursday or Friday.  If parents have any questions they should email the teacher.

Intermediate School (3-5)
All students, or parents of the students, should access their teacher’s web page to find the assignments for the day.  The teachers will be exclusively available from 10:00-12:00 to respond to any questions via email., and will periodically be available throughout the rest of the day. The students are expected to complete the assignments that are posted for the snow day and hand them in the day school resumes.

Middle School (6-8)

All students are to enter the school website (www.stfrancismorgantown.com) and access their teacher’s web page found under the “faculty & staff” option in the top menu. From there, they should click on the left sidebar named “Cyber Day”. They will find there assignments posted there.  The teachers will be exclusively available to answer any questions via email from 12:00-2:00.  The students are expected to complete their assignments and email them back to their teachers thru their student email accounts by 7:00 p.m.

The above models are a combination of what has been done in the past at SF, along with newer ideas that we are exploring for our upper grades. The fact is that nothing will ever take the place of a teacher in the classroom, but we believe this plan is a proactive attempt of our school keeping students engaged and accountable so that when school resumes, the flow of instruction is less disrupted.  We will naturally work out any kinks in this plan as we encounter them so that we can get something more firm in place for future years. On behalf of the faculty and administration, we thank you for your support and being a partner in your child’s education.  Peace and blessings.
