Dear St. Francis Families,

I am very excited to announce our second fundraiser for the 2014-2015 school year!  It will be a Race for Education 5K on November 15, 2014.  The race will begin at 11:00 a.m.  A 1 mile fun run/walk will also be held immediately following the 5K race.   Pre-registration will be available online.  Race day registration will take place at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheatre and will begin at 9:00 a.m.

The 5K course will begin at the amphitheatre, and will constitute an “out and back” route on the Decker’s Creek Trail.   The 1 mile run/walk will also be an “out and back” route on the Caperton Trail.   Race awards will be provided in different categories.

Race packets for pre-registrants will be available at the school on November 14, from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.    Registrations will also be accepted immediately prior to the race on November 15, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The commitment  for St. Francis families is to raise $100.00 per family, which may be made as a direct payment to the school or secured through  sponsorships from family members and friends.  A sponsorship of $100 will entitle all immediate family members, including parents and siblings, of our students to participate in the race and receive the official race t-shirt.   All other registrants, including members of your extended families and other community members, will be required to pay a registration fee of $25.00 per person.

Registration will be conducted online prior to the race.  Look for the race link on the school website.   Each school family will be assigned a number to be used for the online registration.   Your family number can be used only one time.  Therefore, to avoid being charged the per person registration fee, please register all members of your immediate family at the same time.

Families will also have the ability to create their own race webpages from the race link in which you can receive donations and/or sponsorships, set donation goals, send personal messages to family and friends and add photographs.    Donation forms will also be available to download from the school website in the event you prefer to solicit donations in person as opposed to online.

The goals of this event are both a community builder and fundraiser.   What a magnificent way to benefit school programs at St. Francis as well as promote health and wellness in the greater Morgantown community.  Even if you are not an avid runner, or if you have young children that are unable to participate in the 5K, please join us for the 1 mile fun run and social event immediately following the races.

This is event is our second required fundraiser for the current school year.  Therefore, each family is expected to (a) participate in the event, or (b) make a donation to the school in the amount of $100.00 per family.  All donations must be received no later than November 14, 2014.  We are eager to join together as a school community and make this a positive and noteworthy event.  Please be an ambassador for our school and encourage friends and other family members to participate in the event.  Thank you for your commitment to our school.
