The final round for the spelling bee welcomed students from grades 7 and 8: Julianne Ferrell, Isa Millham, Quinn Mudry, and Dom Costello faced off in several rounds until a winner was declared.  Attempting words from Latin, Arabic, and Asian origins proved to be an attainable challenge at first: ambivalent, meticulous, adjacent, percolate, macrame, algorithm, marzipan, dungaree, chutney, and cummerbund were just a few of the challenging words.

Dom Costello edged out his classmates to earn top speller for the 2019-2020 St. Francis Spelling Bee.

Congratulations to all who participated in preliminary rounds:

6th grade: Evan Badwar, Rachel Ogershok, Sloan Coombs

7th grade:  Claire von Boetticher, Dylan Puderbaugh

8th grade:  Mason Martin, Mitchell Martin

Congratulations to Dominic Costello who will appear at the county level spelling bee on February 5th at South Middle School!
