Thank you to all for the success of Lend Your Leg Solidarity Day on Friday, March 28. Please read a response from Roots of Peace below:

Dear St. Francis de Sales Students,

On the advent on International Landmine Awareness Day on April 4th, 2014, we hope the efforts by the students of St. Francis de Sales School will inspire conversation regarding landmine removal worldwide, so that the innocent footsteps of children may be spared by the perils of landmines.

“In the spirit of St. Francis the Gardener, we thank the children for inspiring the world to ‘plant the roots of peace’ on earth—replacing the scourge of landmines with bountiful vineyards and global gardens—literally turning MINES TO VINES.  On behalf of Roots of Peace, we sincerely thank the students of St. Francis de Sales School for inspiring global citizens to LEND YOUR LEG from the heart of America….to the world!”

There can be no ‘peace on earth’ when there are landmines in the ground.  Together, may we take the first steps to remove these deadly sins from our one earth, so that children may walk forth in confidence with grounded faith on the soils in 70 countries where they firmly stand.

May the tiniest mustard seed of faith grow forth into the kingdom of heaven.  And, may this kind gesture by the students of St. Francis de Sales School grow forth into a worldwide campaign to commemorate Landmine Awareness Day.

Thank you to these special American students for their compassionate efforts to ‘Lend Your Leg’ in Solidarity, so that other children living in over 70  mine affected countries may be spared both life and limb.

With sincere appreciation,
